Irish Oatmeal Question

It might. How long was it cooking? I put mine in about 10:30 pm and opened it up around 8 am. Mine was right over the pilot light with tin foil over the pot and the cover over the thermowell.

Been waiting for this for months... Heading down to the kitchen to light the T-well pilot. Gonna put some oats in the triple pot and have oatmeal and real coffee cooked on the Chambers tomorrow morning!

And not a minute too soon. We're fresh out of girl scout cookies.

Hubby is a "thin mints guy" too. Not me, I'm a "all abouts gal".

On Irish Oatmeal; somethings I've learned-- If it cooks for a long time(over 7+ hours) it seems to dry out. If you add dried fruit it dries out faster. I've learned if I'm going to sleep late I add a tad more water.
Also your pilot light adjustment has a lot to do with cook time & heat.I eventually realized my flame height was too high and way too orange and adjusted it to a nice small 3/8" blue cone as stated in the service manual.
It's a process of getting to know [i]your[/i] Chambers.

Also, if your oats are "thicker" than you like, add some milk.

Asfan, it should be enough for 2 people.
Serving size being a cereal bowl.

Oatmeal's in the T-Well. Didn't have any McCann's on hand, but we did have some Kroger brand oats, the raw stuff not the instant or 5 minute variety. Two cups of water boiled on the stove top, then into the thermowell with the oats in a triple pot on a nice 3/8" blue pilot flame.

What is the safety impact if the pilot flame blows out overnight? Should I crack a window?

The Kroger rolled oats turned into an oat-flavored liquid overnight. My wife just laughed, because she knew that there's a difference between steel-cut oats and rolled oats. But she ate the whole bowl anyway. It was surprisingly very hot despite having cooked only on the pilot, and tasted pretty good but I'm afraid that now having eaten food cooked in an aluminum pot I've quite forgotten what I was going to write next. We bought the Irish Steel-Cut oats at the store tonight. Got 'em in boiling water in the well, pilot on. We'll see how it goes. Stove's been getting quite the workout today.
